Joseph Plateau

  • First man to create moving images.
  • Invented the Phenakistoscope.
  • Professor at the university of Ghent.
  • Belgian physicist.
  • Inspired many other animators to come.

William Horner
  • Mathematician.
  • Born in 1786.
  • 1834 introduces zoetrope.

Charles - Emile Reynaud
  • Brought up with home education.
  • First man to project animation.
  • Created Praxinoscope in 1889.
  • promoted comercial use of animation.

Eadward Mybridge Eddison
  • Born in Kingston, London.
  • British photographer.
  • Began to do experiments involving animation in 1892.
  • Created Zoopraxiscopes in 1869.
  • Inspired many animators including Thomas Eddison.
George Pal
  • Born in Hungary on February 1st 1908.
  • Made Puppetoons which gave him an honorary Oscar in 1942.
  • Given 6 Oscars in his life time.
  • Passed away in May 2nd 1970. 

Ray Harryhausen

  • Allot of his work was to do with Dinosaurs and Fantasy worlds.
  • Learnt how to make models and Sculptures at his school.
  • He was inspired by King-Kong.
Jan Svankmayer
  • Born in 1934 in Prague.
  • He was a fan of theatre.
